Hunter Symbol 3 is required to make some of the best weapons and Talismans in Monster Hunter Wilds.
As it's so useful, Hunter Symbol 3 is unfortunately locked behind completing the story of Monster Hunter Wilds first. Plus, you have to hunt some formidable Tempered monsters to get the handy material to drop.
To help you plan ahead, we've explained exactly how to get Hunter Symbol 3 in Monster Hunter Wilds below, and have also detailed how to get Hunter Symbol 1 and 2 further below.

How to get Hunter Symbol 3 in Monster Hunter Wilds
You have to complete 7-Star and 8-Star Tempered monster quests to get Hunter Symbol 3 in Monster Hunter Wilds. This is a very late-game activity, as you can only take part in these Tempered monster quests after you complete Chapter 6 and the main story.
The good news is that at least one Hunter Symbol 3 seems to drop every time you complete a 7-Star or 8-Star Tempered monster quest, and you can get even more of them by using a Lucky Voucher before you start a quest.
The 7-Star Tempered monsters are:
As of writing, the only 8-Star Tempered monster is Tempered Arkveld.
You can start a quest in search for Hunter Symbol 3 by searching for a 7-Star or 8-Star Tempered monster on the 'SOS Flare' quest tab of Alma's Quest Counter, or you can create a quest (and save it as a repeatable Investigation) for a Tempered monster quest from your map, when the right monster shows up.
How to get Hunter Symbol 1 and 2 in Monster Hunter Wilds
You can get Hunter Symbol 1 and 2 earlier than Hunter Symbol 3, as you only need to complete 5-Star Tempered monster quests to get Hunter Symbol 1, and complete 6-Star Tempered monster quests to get Hunter Symbol 2.
Just like Hunter Symbol 3, these are guaranteed drops, and you can get even more by using a Lucky Voucher before you start a quest.
