Dapperwing is an Endemic Life creature found in the Forest region of Monster Hunter Wilds.

While it's not used to craft anything, you do need to collect them for certain other tasks, like the Samin's Research Report side quest in Monster Hunter Wilds.

To help you get some of these flying creatures as soon as possible, we've explained exactly where to find Dapperwing in Monster Hunter Wilds, and how to catch Dapperwing once you locate them.

While you can spot them all over in the Forest, Dapperwings are most commonly found around areas 12 and 17 of the Forest region in Monster Hunter Wilds. However, we've found that the quickest places to spot a Dapperwing are:

  1. On a trunk in the watery area just below the area 2 marker.
  2. A Dapperwing perched on a tree trunk during a downpour in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Dapperwing are one of two colours depending on what season it is. They have a dark green hue during the Fallow, but are bright, multi-coloured creatures during Plenty. So, we suggest you look for Dapperwings in Plenty season during the day, if you can, as they'll be easier to spot.

How to catch Dapperwing in Monster Hunter Wilds

Unlike the Large Monsters you hunt, you need to use the Capture Net to catch Dapperwings in Monster Hunter Wilds. They tend to rest on branches above, and you don't need to equip the Ghillie Mantle, or walk slowly towards them, as Dapperwings aren't spooked as easily as other Endemic Life.

If your Capture Net can't reach a Dapperwing, remember that you can mount your Seikret for a little extra height. And if you happen to find a pair or trio of Dapperwings, make sure you quickly catch the next ones beside the first Dapperwing you capture, or the others might fly away!

The Capture Net can be selected from your items menu, or from one of the radial menus where you have them set to, like the pre-made Fixed-Items one.
