How to upgrade weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds

To upgrade weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds you need to speak to Gemma at the Smithy and then select the forge/upgrade weapon option. You will need to craft the weapon that's first on the set tree before you can begin an upgrade as, after all, you can't upgrade something if you don't have it!

Remember, the icon for Gemma at the Smithy will look like this:

You can find her at any major base camp or campsite on your journey (but not at pop-up camps).

Pick your weapon type from the menu that appears, for example if you want to upgrade a Bow then choose the Bow option.

When you're in the weapon menu select one you own from either the weapon tree or from the forge menu. You can switch between the two tabs at the top of your screen.

You can upgrade a weapon by selecting the next node on the weapon tree or the next option in the forge menu. For example, you can upgrade the Hope Bow I into Hope Bow II.

Once you've chosen the weapon you want to upgrade, check the upgrade requirements that appear in the middle of your screen on your weapon menu. If you don't have the right materials, you will not be able to upgrade it yet. Any materials you're missing will show up in red.

Also, the stats on the right side of your menu will change according to how the upgrade will impact the chosen weapon and your hunter. If an upgrade will improve a stat, it will go green. If it will decrease a stat, the number will turn red and if it has no effect then the number will stay white.

If you've got the right materials and you're happy with your choice, you can use the prompted command to confirm you want to proceed with the upgrade and Gemma will make it!

That's all for now! We hope you enjoy Monster Hunter Wilds.
