Getting your Seikret in Monster Hunter Wilds will take a little while, even though your first encounter with one is right at the start of your story.

Your Seikret is a crucial ally in Monster Hunter Wilds, it's your way of swiftly exploring the landscape and they're extremely useful when you're hunting monsters. You can hop on their back to dash away and give yourself some time to heal with a potion, or you can attack from their back to keep monsters guessing. In short, they're essential.

How to get Seikret in Monster Hunter Wilds

You get the Seikret in Monster Hunter Wilds after you hunt the Quematrice in Village of Whispering Winds quest.

The Quematrice hunt is around midway through this first major story quest and you will have the Seikret at your side for it as a loan from Y'sai, but you won't officially own one until you beat the monster and return to base camp.

Once you return to base camp after slaying the beast, Y'sai will appear instantly to give you and your team a couple of Seikret that you can use for the rest of your journey.

The Seikret will now be your mount to use whenever you want to explore your surroundings and reach places you can't go on foot (like balancing on top of large stacks of rocks then running along them like they're grind rails). Remember, they're also extremely helpful in keeping you out of danger and giving you more opportunities to attack during monster hunts.
