How to get Rathian Carapace in Monster Hunter Wilds
Where to find Rathian Carapace.
Rathian Carapace in Monster Hunter Wilds is a high rank material you can collect from slaying one specific monster you'll come across in your adventures.
As we've just said above, this is a high rank material, meaning you'll need to progress far enough in the story of Monster Hunter Wilds to reach the high rank portion of the game. The material and target monster will not appear before this point.
On that note, here's how to get Rathian Carapace in Monster Hunter Wilds.
How to get Rathian Carapace in Monster Hunter Wilds
To get Rathian Carapace in Monster Hunter Wilds you need to slay a Rathian at high rank. This large monster only appears in the wild once you reach high rank. You can do this by completing the 'New Ecosystems' main story quest at the beginning of Chapter 4. If you look for this monster or material before this point, you will not find them.
However, like all materials, you're not guaranteed to get this material drop after harvesting the Rathian Carcass so you may need to slay more than one to find it.

Rathian's can be found in Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest and Oilwell Basin once you reach high rank.
When hunting this monster remember that their weak point is their mouth, but also their wings are both breakable and the tail is severable.
Consider using any Thunder or Dragon elemental attacks on them as Rathians are weak to these two elements. Having ammunition of this time with a compatible weapon, or using Thunder Pods and Dragon Pods in your Slinger will help increase the damage you do on this creature. Most status effects work well on this creature but don't bother with Poison. Flash Pods, Pitfall Traps and Shock Traps are all effective too - especially if you want to plan your next move.
Also, watch your back because we've found that when you fight a Rathian and inflict enough damage on it, a Rathalos will appear and start to attack you to protect them. We found the best way around this was to fire Dung Pods or Large Dung Pods at the Rathian to split them up, or to keep riding around on your Seikret to attack the Rathian until it splits off.
