Novacrystal in Monster Hunter Wilds is a type of high rank material you can collect to further enhance your equipment for your Hunter.
Just like other materials, such as Firestone, you'll need to exploit a specific part of the environment across multiple regions to give yourself the best chance of finding this material. Also, if you're up to it, you can take on a high rank monster that can drop this item in Monster Hunter Wilds.

How to get Novacrystal in Monster Hunter Wilds
In Monster Hunter Wilds Novacrystal can be collected from Mining Outcrops in Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest, Oilwell Basin, Wyveria and as a harvest material from the carcass of a Gypceros.
Novacrystal is a high rank material, meaning if you're looking for it before you reach Chapter 4 of the main story you will not find it. You must have unlocked high rank at the beginning of Chapter 4 to be able to collect this material.
Also, remember you can filter your map for each region to show you only Mining Outcrops and you can make waypoints to each one so your scoutflies will show you the easiest route there. Now, if you're using Mining Outcrops, you're not guarunteed to get Novacrystal each time you search through one, you'll need to be patient and it will appear eventually.
We've had the most success getting Novacrystal from the Mining Outcrops in Area 7 and 13 of Oilwell Basin.
We highly recommend both methods of getting Novacrystal. Visiting Mining Outcrops will always be lucrative, even ig you don't get the Novacrystal you're after and slaying a Gypceros will shower you with high rank rewards, as well as a chance at getting a Novacrystal.
