The Gravid Bowfin in Monster Hunter Wilds is a fish you need to catch for the 'Fishing for Flavor' side quest that you pick up from Kayna at the Base Camp in Scarlet Forest.

This fish is a bit of a pain to find in Monster Hunter Wilds, mainly because its spawn numbers are low unless you're in a specific season and, to complicate things more, they only seem to like two very short parts of the day.

On that note, here's how to get Gravid Bowfin in Monster Hunter Wilds.

How to get Gravid Bowfin in Monster Hunter Wilds

In Monster Hunter Wilds Gravid Bowfin can be caught in Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest, Oilwell Basin, Iceshard Cliffs or Wyveria.

However, though they spawn across most regions, it doesn't mean they're easy to catch - they're notoriously hard to find but we've figured out a few tricks that will help you find one.

One trick is that Gravid Bowfin are easier to find at either dawn or dusk during the season of plenty, so changing the season and time of day will work in your favor.

Also, they're attracted to the Emerald Jitterbait lure (which you get from Kayna for the 'Seeking the Goldenfish' side quest.) On top of that, when you've found a Gravid Bowfin you should use a slow reel to get their attention - it might take a while, but they do respond better to this method than any other.

Our favourite spot for Gravid Bowfin is The Oasis in Area 13 of Windward Plains. We've marked its location on the map below for you:

There's a pop-up campsite near the edge of the water here and we highly recommend setting one up if you've not done so already. The water in this small pool of water is very clear and it makes it easy to spot if a Gravid Bowfin has spawned. Also, this is only a small pool of water so you'll not have to look through a dense gathering of fish to see if the one you want is here.

A Gravid Bowfin looks exactly the same as a Virid Bowfin, but it's a brown-red colour which can be harder to pick out in the evening light. We've had more success spotting the Gravid Bowfin at sunrise.

You can search for a Gravid Bowfin in any of the other regions we've listed above, but we've had the most success fishing for them in this specific part of Windward Plains.
