Also, your trust Feylyne companion has their own weapon in Monster Hunter Wilds. You can craft them new ones, and change them out, as freely as you can with your own hunter's weapons. In short, having weapons is the key to surviving your journey through different environments.

How to craft Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds

To craft Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds you need to speak to Gemma at the Smithy. She's the weapon blacksmith for Wilds and will be available at most major campsites you make on your journey (not pop-up ones.)

The Smithy icon will look like this on your map, which is an easy way of tracking Gemma down:

When you speak to Gemma, select the 'forge/upgrade weapon' option in the Smithy Menu.

Then, you'll be able to pick one weapon type from the fourteen that are available. For example, if you want to craft a Bow weapon then you'd select the Bow option.

This will then bring you to that weapon type's crafting menu's first tab, the Weapon Tree. You'll notice that there are a lot of different branches here and, while it can seem overwhelming, it's pretty simple once you know what to do.

On the left side of the menu are the different weapon trees you've discovered on your journey and all of the weapons available on it. If you've not discovered a tree yet then it'll simply be marked '???' for now - but you can still look at the weapons within it.

Most weapon trees will be discovered as you find their related material or Monster.

Also, there can be multiple upgrades for a single weapon but you will still need to craft the base weapon to be able to get the upgraded versions.

You'll notice here that there are several weapon branches that connect to one another. Often, this means that if you want to craft a weapon that's third on the branch, you'll need to have made the two before it before you can get to it.

For example, the top seven trees for the Bow are all connected to one another. You'll easily be able to see which weapons are connected and how many you need to craft before you can reach your desired one.

Any weapons you can't craft will have a padlock icon in its upper right corner on the tree.

In the middle of the screen you'll see the weapon you've highlighted on the tree, any materials required to craft it and how much it will cost to make it. All weapons require Zenny (in-game currency) to craft and almost all of them require unique materials.

If you're lacking the right materials then the materials list will be red.

On the right side of the screen you'll see all of the stats and equipment information for your chosen weapon. This is crucial to pay attention to, especially if you know what monster you're hunting, what their weaknesses are and if you're trying to fill a hole in your arsenal to help you take down the monster in question.

You'll also be able to see important information about your highlighted weapon, including the compatible coatings for the weapon (if applicable) and its active skills.

When you're happy with the choice you've made for crafting a weapon, select it in the weapon tree and use the prompted command to confirm you want Gemma to make it.

Wishlisting Weapons

If there's a weapon you want but you don't have the right materials for it yet then you can add it to your Wishlist.

Adding a weapon to your wishlist means that you'll be notified when you've collected the right materials for it while you're out in the Wilds. In short, it's an easy way of knowing once you can make it.

To add a weapon to your Wishlist simply select the weapon and use the command next to the 'Sub-Menu' prompt to open a small box next to the weapon. Then, select the 'add to wishlist' option and the weapon will instantly be added to it!

How to craft Palico Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds

To craft Palico Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds you need to speak to Gemma at the Smithy and select the forge Palico equipment option.

This will bring you out to a menu where you can craft any piece of your Palico's equipment, but for this page we're going to focus on their weapons. On the left side of the screen you'll notice that the Palico equipment currently available to you has been split into sets, such as Felyne Chatacabra.

The first icon next to the set name is the Palico weapon for that specific equipment set.

Select one of the weapons and it will appear in the middle of your screen. Just like with the Hunter weapons, this is where the Zenny cost of crafting the weapon plus any materials you need will appear.

For example, the Felyne Bone Hammer below needs 50 Zenny and one Mystery Bone to craft.

Then, on the right side of the screen you'll find the equipment info including its attack stats, attack type and any other bonuses it has.

You'll also be able to see your Felyne's stats on the far right side and how your highlighted weapon will impact those.

To add a Palico weapon to your Wishlist simply select the weapon and use the command next to the 'Sub-Menu' prompt to open a small box next to the weapon. Then, select the 'add to wishlist' option and the weapon will instantly be added to it!
