How to craft armor in Monster Hunter Wilds

Where to craft new armor for your Hunter and Palico.

Crafting armor in Monster Hunter Wilds is a big thing to master because a Hunter without their armor is, well, dead.

Armor can give you vital protecting from large monsters and it's not just your Hunter you can protect this way, you can also make Palico armor too so your Felyne pal is also safe. The more you explore and more monsters you hunt, the more armor will be available to you.

Here's how to craft armor in Monster Hunter Wilds.

How to craft armor in Monster Hunter Wilds

To craft armor in Monster Hunter Wilds you need to speak to Gemma at the Smithy at base camps or campsites, then select the 'Forge/upgrade equipment' option to get started.

When you've selected this, you'll enter a very large armor menu. At first glance this menu can seem confusing as there's a lot going on in it, so let's break it down bit by bit.

On the left side of the screen near your Hunter are all of the armor sets you've currently discovered through either finding their core material or by fighting the monster they're linked to.

You can also filter your set list by the following criteria:

  • Rarity
  • Defense
  • Resistance
  • Slot Level
  • Number of Slots
  • Equipment Skills

Once you've selected an armor piece you want to look at and potentially craft, it will appear in the middle of your screen.

Here, you'll be able to see the how much crafting the piece will cost and what materials, if any, you'll need too. For example, the Bone Coil costs one Mystery Bone and 100 Zenny.

On the right side of the screen you'll be able to see the equipment information and how equipping this armor piece will impact your Hunter.

These are crucial areas to pay attention to, particularly the equipment info, as it will show you what you'll be gaining by spending materials and Zenny on making it.

Once you're happy with your choice, simply confirm you want to craft the piece by using the command prompt in the bottom left corner of the screen and Gemma will make it.

Also, if you're ever unsure of what armor piece to craft next, then once you've completed the 'A Hunter's Pride' main story quest you can ask Gemma for recommendations based on your current level and needs.

Wishlisting Hunter armor

If you've got your eye on a piece of armor but don't have the right materials yet, then you can add it to your wishlist. By doing this, you'll automatically be notified once you've collected enough of or the right material to be able to craft the set.

To add an armor piece to your wishlist, hover over it in the set menu and then enter the sub-menu. In the small box that appears select the 'add to wishlist' option and it will instantly be added to it.

How to craft Palico armor in Monster Hunter Wilds

To craft Palico armor in Monster Hunter Wilds you need to speak to Gemma at the Smithy at base camp or at campsites, then select the 'Forge/upgrade Palico equipment' option to get started.

On the left side of the screen next to your Palico will be the equipment sets. You can craft Palico weapons here too, but for now we're going to focus on the equipment. Palico sets come in three pieces, the last two icons in a set are both pieces of equipment - the body and head armor pieces.

Select which piece you want to look at and then it will appear in the middle of your screen. Here, you'll be able to see how many materials and what materials you'll need to craft the piece, as well as how much it will cost.

For example, the Felyne Bone Helm requires one Mystery Bone and will cost 50 Zenny.

Then, just like with Hunter armor, you'll be able to see the equipment info and how your highlighted piece will impact your Palico on the right side of your screen.

When you're happy with your choice, confirm you want to craft this piece and Gemma will whip it up for you.

Wishlisting Palico armor

Just like with your Hunter, if you want a piece of Palico armor but don't have the right materials for it, then you can add it to your wishlist. By doing this, you'll automatically be notified once you've collected enough of or the right material to be able to craft the set.

To add a Palico armor piece to your wishlist, hover over it in the set menu and then enter the sub-menu. In the small box that appears select the 'add to wishlist' option and it will instantly be added to it.
