Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds are Fanged Beasts that you run into very early-on in the game, and are the smaller versions of the Alpha Doshaguma, though they can do as much damage as their bigger relative.

Hunting Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds is worth doing, especially early on when you need to hone your skills and perhaps get used to a new weapon. They're by no means a weak monster, but it's better to test it on them than the bigger ones that are hanging around.

On that note, here's our Monster Hunter Wilds Doshaguma guide, including Doshaguma's weak points, attacks and items.

Tips for defeating Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds

Here are some handy tips for defeating Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds:

  • Special Attacks: Weak Roar, Minor Tremor.
  • Use Fire elemental attacks - Doshaguma are weak to any fire-based elemental attacks, so using weaponry of this variety will help you.
  • Use Thunder elemental attacks - They're also weak to thunder-based elemental attacks, so having a secondary or primary weapon with this element is a good idea.
  • Use Flaming Ammo - If you've got a compatible weapon, use Flaming Ammo to inflict damage on Doshaguma.
  • Use Thunder Ammo - Also, if you've got a compatible weapon, consider using Thunder Ammo if you've got any.
  • Stock up on Torch Pods - As a fire-based item for your Slinger, using Torch Pods will help you chip away at the target.
  • Stock up on Thunder Pods - As a thunder-based item for your Slinger, Thunder Pods will also help you chip away at Doshaguma's health.
  • All status effects work on Doshaguma - All status effects are equally as powerful on this monster, so feel free to use whatever ones you like, though we did find Sleep and Paralysis quite useful.
  • Flash Pods, Shock Traps and Pitfall Traps are effective - We found using Flash Pods useful for disorienting the monster to give ourselves time to move and set up a trap for them.

  • Use the environment - From loose boulders to natural vine traps, using the world around you will help you bring down Doshaguma.
  • Fill up on Health Potions - These beasts are surprisingly swift and their front claws pack a punch. Having plenty of Health Potions in your inventory will help you stay in the fight as long as possible.
  • Grill a meal - If you're finding you're struggling, stop when it's safe to do so and grill a meal (if there's time). This will give your Hunter a much needed boost to continue with the fight.
  • Lure to other monsters - If you lure Doshaguma into the path of another monster, there's a high chance it will start to fight them. Be careful though, if you lead it to another of its kind then they can both turn on you instead.
  • Use Large Dung Pods or Dung Pods - Doshaguma, as said above, can team up against you. If this happens, use Dung Pods or Large Dung Pods in your Slinger to break them up. Just make sure you're targeting the other Doshaguma, not the one you're focusing on.

Monster Hunter Wilds Doshaguma Weak Points

Doshaguma's weak point is its belly. It's Tail Hair and two Forelegs are breakable too.

Doshaguma's belly is it's weakest point, but it's the hardest to target safely because you can only really get to it properly when the beast is on its hind legs preparing for another attack. That being said, you can try to attack it from the sides but it won't be as effective as tackling it head on. (This is where we found a Bow handy, you didn't have to get too close.)

We highly advise trying to break both its Forelegs as soon as possible too. Not only will this severely damage the monster, it can slow its attacks down and even reduce the speed of it running away.

We also noticed that, though not as effective as the weak areas we've listed above, attacking the face of Doshaguma dealt a decent amount of damage on them.

Monster Hunter Wilds Doshaguma Attacks

Doshaguma will rear up on its hind legs (exposing it's weak spot) and then slam down with its claws in the ground, then drag its claws back to it. If you're caught in its claws, it's going to hurt. You do have a few seconds to attack the weak spot belly before the Doshaguma slams down, so we only recommend getting a few hits in it if it's safe before getting away again to avoid getting hit.

It can also choose to only swipe down one claw at you from standing on its hind legs, so just be wary when you're attacking the belly (if you choose to do so.)

Doshaguma will have a variant of the above attacks, but instead of slamming its claw into the ground it will slam it first then drag it towards you too.

The beast will also lift up either one of its Forelegs and swipe its claws at you while on all fours. You can easily avoid this attack by dodging out of the way when you notice one of the Forelegs being lifted into the air.

Doshaguma will also open its jaws and try to lunge at you, while biting you, if you're standing too close to them. If you notice the monster's focus pinned on you and they're getting closer on all fours there's a good chance this attack is coming.

Monster Hunter Wilds Doshaguma Locations

Doshaguma can be found in the Plains, Forest, and Wyveria regions. However, in the early portion of the game you're most likely to only find them in the Plains area until you reach High Rank in Chapter Four.

When you're hunting a Doshaguma we highly recommend making a quest for yourself, that way you can use your scoutflies to find its exact location and then to easily follow your target from area to area.

On our hunts so far, we've noticed that Doshaguma move between are 15, 10, 6, and 7 in the Forest.

Should you capture or kill Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Capturing or killing Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds is entirely up to you and your choice will depend on your needs at the moment you're hunting them. If you're going after them for specific materials that can only be taken from a Doshaguma carcass, then hunting it is the best choice but you might want to capture them for other reasons.
