How to beat Alpha Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds
Tips for hunting and beating Alpha Doshaguma.
Beating the Alpha Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds is part of the Hunter's Pride quest in Chapter One, and an entire village is relying on you to succeed.
The Alpha Doshaguma is a bigger, fiercer, faster, more powerful and much angrier version of the other Doshaguma monsters you've come across already in Monster Hunter Wilds. However, lessons you've learned from fighting the smaller versions can help you out in this one, and pay attention to the distinct weather in this fight, it can be useful.
On that note, here's how to beat the Alpha Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds.

How to prepare for Alpha Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds
You'll face Alpha Doshaguma near the end of the 'Hunter's Pride' quest in Chapter One of Monster Hunter Wilds. You will have hunted a monster just before this so your health and inventory may have already taken a hit, but you can make a couple of preparations to help you out.
Here are a few things you can do before your first fight with Alpha Doshaguma, without having fainted:
- Collect any herbs you go past - If you've got your crafting settings set to automatic for health potions (it should already be set to this as default) then collecting herbs you come across will create health potions and instantly add them to your inventory. Health is wealth, especially when facing an Alpha.
- Collect any items you find - Your grapple is handy for grabbing different items you venture past on your Seikret, we recommend collecting anything you see as, if you've set an item's crafting to auto, certain materials will instantly convert to useful items.
- Save your game - Just as the fight begins we highly recommend doing a manual save of your game, just in case anything goes wrong with your system or you need a back up to return to. Imagine doing all of that work to fight this Alpha, then losing it all just as you're about to slay it - not fun.
- Get used to your Seikret controls and attacking from them - Your Seikret mount is a huge ally during the fight with Alpha Doshaguma, attacking from the Seikret and using them to lure around the monster into traps is paramount to your success.

Now, if you end up having to restart the quest then you can make these preparations in advance. Just try to save most of these for the Alpha Doshaguma and not the Balahara you face before them:
- Fill your pockets up with health potions - Just fit as many as you can into your health potion and mega health potion slots, you can only beat Doshaguma if you're alive.
- Stock up on Fire and Thunder elemental attacks/ammo - Just like its smaller version, Alpha Doshaguma is weak to Fire and Thunder elemental attacks, so making sure you've got one (if not both) elements stocked up in some form will help you get the edge over this beast.
- Stock up on Flash Pods and Shock Traps - We found that these two worked really well against the Alpha and helped slow them down long enough for us to get in high-damaging hits repeatedly before they recovered.
- Get Large Barrel Bombs - If you've got some, then we recommend adding Large Barrel Bombs to your pockets too. It's easier to put these down when your Palico is distracting the Alpha, but they did deal significant damage to the target.

How to beat Alpha Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds
To beat Alpha Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds you need to attack its weak points and lure it into lightning bolts to wear its health down to zero.
Luckily, the weather is on your side for this fight and can be a massive help in bringing the Alpha down. No matter where the Alpha runs to during this fight, there will be lightning bolts hitting the ground because of a severe storm - and these bolts are your biggest ally.
Look for the warning signs on the ground of small sparks, these are telling you where the next bolt is going to hit.

While riding your Seikret, lure the Alpha Doshaguma towards these points (without standing in it yourself) and try to keep them in that area until the large bolt strikes. If the bolt hits the Alpha, it will do a significant amount of damage.

Speaking of using the environment, keep an eye out for Great Thunderbugs and Stuntoads. The Great Thunderbugs can be activated by grabbing them with your grapple claw and they'll essentially electrocute any monster nearby to briefly slow them down. You can activate the Stuntoads in the same way, but Stuntoads will breifly inflict Paralysis on the Alpha - giving you enough time to land some heavy attacks safely.

Just like its smaller version, the Alpha Doshaguma's weak spot is its belly which you can attack freely when it rears up on its hind legs.
Also, the tail hair and two front legs of the Alpha Doshaguma are breakable, attacking these and then breaking them will severely limit the Doshaguma (as well as inflict a good amount of damage on them.)
Attacking the face (if you can do so safely) also helped to wear down the Alpha's health. We had a Bow and used multiple charged shots on its face, which turned out to be quite effective.
Don't forget to use Focus Mode to attack and then destroy the Alpha Doshaguma's wounds when they appear, doing this will seriously hurt the Alpha by inflicting substantial amounts of damage.

Now, during this fight you may come across another large monster, the Rey Dau. If you do, then try to lure the Alpha Doshaguma towards the Rey Dau and then get out of the way as soon as they see each other. They should then engage in battle against one another, with the Rey Dau inflicting another lot of of damage on the Alpha.
You can either use this opportunity to restock your health, set out a trap like a Large Barrel Bomb, or attack the Alpha yourself at the same time. Just be careful that the Rey Dau doesn't spot you too, otherwise you'll have two very big problems.
Also, other monsters may appear during your fight and you can use these too (like a Balahara) but we found the Rey Dau did the most damage to the Alpha.

If you're having trouble dodging the Alpha's attacks then we recommend attacking from your Seikret. You'll be more mobile from the back of your mount and you can get away from the Alpha quickly if you need to grab some health or simply need to get some distance from it.
