How to beat Ajarakan in Monster Hunter Wilds
Ajarakan weak points, strategy and items.
Ajarakan in Monster Hunter Wilds are large ape-like monsters that cover themselves in molten metal that they can ignite to make explosions.
Hunting Ajarakan in Monster Hunter Wilds is made considerably harder by the enviroments they like to inhabit, and the fact that getting too close to one while it's on fire will turn up the heat on your Hunter as well as melt any normal ammunition or arrows you're trying to use. In short, it's important to keep your cool against Ajarakan.
On that note, here's our Monster Hunter Wilds Ajarakan guide.

Tips for defeating Ajarakan in Monster Hunter Wilds
Here are some handy tips for defeating Ajarakan in Monster Hunter Wilds:
- Special Attacks: Weak Roar, Minor Tremor, Fireblight, Blastblight.
- Use heat-resistant equipment - Any normal arrows or ammunition will melt as soon as they touch the Ajakaran and are essentially useless. Heat-resistant equipment is your best bet.
- Carry plenty of Nulberry - Consuming this will counteract the effects of Fireblight quickly.
- Carry plenty of Deodrant - Using this item will counteract the effects of Blastblight.
- Stock up on Watermoss - Using Watermoss will cool down Ajarakan so you can approach them safely and attack them with normal weaponry for a short period of time.
- Stock up on Cool Drinks - Ajarakan is blazing hot, so getting too close to it will burn your Hunter. Also, the environment it likes in Oilwell Basin can get warm - so these items will help you stay cool.
- Collect Chillmantle Bugs - If you find yourself getting too hot and have run out of Cool Drinks, your Hunter will consume these bugs once you've collected them. They'll also cool you down.
- Destroy the wounds - As soon as wounds open up and are visible, target them to destroy them with Focus Mode to inflict large amounts of damage quickly.

- Use water or ice elemental equipment - Ajarakan is weak to water and ice elemental attacks, so use these where you can.
- Stock up on Puddle Pods - As a water-based item, Puddle Pods will help you damage the monster.
- Stock up on Frostburst and Frost Pods - As ice-based items, they will also help you damage Ajarakan.
- Poison, Sleep, Paralysis, Blastblight, Stun, and Exhaust Status effects all work on Ajarakan!
- Pitfall Traps, Shock Traps and Flash Pods are all effective - We strongly recommend using Flash Pods and Shock Traps. They will slow Ajarakan down and confuse their line of sight for a short period of time, giving you a breather to heal or to set up your next attack.
- Fill up on Health Potions - There's a lot that can go wrong when fighting Ajarakan, so having plenty of Health Potions to fall back on is a good idea.
Monster Hunter Wilds Ajarakan Weak Points
Ajarakan's weakest points are its forearms. Its back is breakable and its tail is severable, making these both weak points too. We recommend targeting all of these areas if you can, but breaking the back and severing the tail will hinder the Ajarakan, giving you the edge in the hunt.

As we said earlier, you ideally need heat-resistant equipment to make any real impact on Ajarakan if you've not got Watermoss to cool it down. If you've got this equipment on hand then we highly advise attacking its forearms as your main target, doing so will inflict large amounts of damage on the monster.
Then, when you can safely reach them, severing the tail and breaking the back of Ajarakan will slow the monster down by dealing severe damage to them.
If you've got Watermoss then use this to cool down, and weaken, the Ajarakan before attacking the areas we've mentione above. However, if you don't have heat-resistant equipment or Watermoss then it is still possible to beat Ajarakan by attacking its weak points, but it will take a lot longer and be far riskier to do so.
Monster Hunter Wilds Ajarakan Attacks
Ajarakan will slam either one of its fists into the ground in an attempt to crush you and catch you with the rubble that's thrown up from the impact of the punch. To avoid getting hit by this, watch for Ajarakan to lift its arm into the air - but if you can attack from a distance it'll be much safer. This attack can give you a fair shot at its forearms, just be careful.
Another attack to watch out for is when Ajarakan puts its fist into the ground and then drags it towards you, flicking it up at the very end when it nears you. To avoid getting hit by this, dodge out of the way as Ajarakan charges towards you - once it's on the move, it finds it hard to change directions. Also, this attack gives you a clear shot at its weak forearms.

Ajarakan will try to smack you with its tail, whether that's lifting its tail into the air and slamming it onto the ground or swishing it in an attempt to swipe you. If you're caught by this, it's going to hurt, so the best thing to do is to watch for the tail to move and then dodge out of the way. The tail is severable, so removing this will prevent this attack.
Ajarakan will also claw up boulders from the ground and toss them at you like they're lightweight beanbags. If they hit your Hunter, you'll lose a large chunk of health. To avoid this attack, keep moving when you see Ajarakan reach into the ground and stay away from the boulders as they're tossed through the air. The monster usually doesn't move too much during this attack, so this is another good opportunity to get your own hits in.

Ajarakan can and will set itself on fire while you're fighting it, and if it wasn't already dangerous enough, the fire makes it even more so alongside new attacks.
When it's ablaze, Ajarakan can go on all fours and spew out a long stream of fire/lava. The best thing to do during this attack is get as far away as you can, and using your Slinger to fire Watermoss at the monster can cool it down a bit. However, if you're careful, this can be a good time to target its tail as the safest place to be is behind it.
Also, when on fire, the Ajarakan's fist attacks will spew up fire and lava from the ground too - making it harder to get close to its arms if you've got a close-up weapon. We used a Bow so this wasn't too bad.

Monster Hunter Wilds Ajarakan Locations
Ajarakan can be found in Oilwell Basin and in Wyveria. Your first encounter with them will be in Oilwell Basin during the 'Long Forgotten Flame' main story quest in Chapter Two. During this quest you'll be able to follow scoutflies to track the monster down as it moves from area to area. You'll also have some help from Olivia if you need it.
Once you've defeated this monster as part of that quest, you'll need to wait for Ajarakan to reappear to hunt them again. However, please note that you need to complete 'The Faithful Keepers' main story quest at the start of Chapter Three to find Wyveria, the second area Ajarakan can be found in.
When you're in either region they can be found in, a pop up will appear on the right side of your screen that says 'Ajarakan has entered the locale', letting you know they can be hunted.
We highly recommend setting up a quest to hunt an Ajarakan when they appear as you can then follow scoutflies to find their exact location, then follow them as they move from area to area.
Should you capture or kill Ajarakan in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Capturing or killing Ajarakan in Monster Hunter Wilds really depends on what you need from this monster. If it's specific materials you need that can only be gained by harvesting the carcass of the monster, then you should ideally kill Ajarakan. However, if your needs are different, then capturing them might be the better option.
