Genshin Impact 5.5 release date, 5.5 Banners and events

The full schedule for Day of the Flame's Return.

The Genshin Impact 5.5 Banner and event details have been officially announced for the latest patch, titled Day of the Flame's Return.

In the fifth update since Natlan's debut, we're getting a new Natlan area to explore, a new Saurian type, and The Collective of Plenty tribe. We're also getting a few more quality of life updates, and a total of four limited-time events.

Below, you can find out the 5.5 release date and time, who the new and returning characters are, and what the 5.5 Banners and events schedule is for the upcoming Genshin Impact patch.

Genshin Impact 5.5 release date and time

Genshin Impact 5.5 releases on Wednesday 26th March. It should follow the usual maintenance schedule for new updates, with 5.5 releasing at 3am (GMT). Due to time zone differences, 5.5 actually releases in the United States on Tuesday 25th March at 7pm (PT).

For other time zones, the Genshin Impact 5.5 release date and time is:

  • West Coast US: Tuesday 25th March, 8pm (PT)
  • Central US: Tuesday 25th March, 10pm (CT)
  • East Coast US: Tuesday 25th March, 11pm (ET)
  • Japan: Wednesday 26th March, 12pm (JST)
  • Australia: Wednesday 26th March, 2pm (AET)
  • UK: Wednesday 26th March, 3am (GMT)
  • Europe: Wednesday 26th March, 4am (CET)

Genshin Impact 5.5 Banners

The version 5.5 Banners debuts one new 5-Star character, Varesa, and one new 4-Star character, Iansan, with three 5-Star character reruns: Xianyun, Xilonen, and Venti.

Phase 1 of the 5.5 Banner schedule begins with new 5-Star Electro catalyst-user Varesa, featured on her Cornucopia of Contention Banner, and returning 5-Star Anemo catalyst-user Xianyun featured on her The Crane Soars Skyward Banner.

Additionally, Iansan will be one of the boosted 4-Star characters on both Varesa and Xianyun's next Banners, with Iansan a new 4-Star Electro polearm-user.

As usual, these 5.5 Phase 1 Banners run alongside each other, and they start on Wednesday 26th March, and should end on Tuesday 15th April.

Then in Phase 2 of the 5.5 Banner schedule we have returning 5-Star Geo sword-user Xilonen, featured on her Forgefire's Blessing Banner, and returning 5-Star Anemo archer Venti on his Ballad in Goblets Banner.

These Phase 2 Banners are expected to run from Tuesday 15th April, and should end on Tuesday 6th May - the day before the expected release date of version 5.6.

In summary, all of the new and returning 5-Star characters you can Wish on during 5.5 in Genshin Impact are:

  • Varesa (Cornucopia of Contention Banner - Phase 1): New 5-Star Electro character who uses a catalyst.
  • Xianyun (The Crane Soars Skyward Banner - Phase 1): Returning 5-Star Anemo character who uses a catalyst.
  • Iansan (Cornucopia of Contention and The Crane Soars Skyward Banners - Phase 1): New 4-Star Electro character who uses a polearm.
  • Xilonen (Forgefire's Blessing Banner - Phase 2): Returning 5-Star Geo character who uses a sword.
  • Venti (Ballad in Goblets Banner - Phase 2): Returning 5-Star Anemo character who uses a bow.

There will also be one new 5-Star weapon in the version 5.5 Phase 1 weapon Banner: the Vivid Notions (catalyst), Varesa's signature.

Version 5.5 with Varesa and Iansan is nearly here! Genshin Impact 5.5 events

The Genshin Impact 5.5 update includes:

  • New Natlan area - Great Volcano of Tollan.
  • The Collective of Plenty tribe.
  • New Saurian type - Tatankasaurus.
  • Varesa Tribal Chronicles quest.
  • New Boss - Lava Dragon Statue.
  • Two new Artifact sets.
  • Limited time exploration rewards until the end of version 5.5.
  • Envisaged Echoes for Venti and Deyha.
  • New TCG character and action cards Genius.
  • Overflowing Favor event - Earn double artifact rewards from Artifact Domains.
  • Repertoire of Myriad Melodies update - Natlan OSTs added, you can play it in the Serenitea Pot, and Natlan and Venti-inspired scores will be added to the 'Treasure of Myriad Melodies' shop.
  • You can now select a Boss icon from the map to quickly navigate to its location.
  • Sanctifying Elixir update - At least two sub stat enhancements are guaranteed to be applied to your targeted substats.
  • Treasure Compass is now able to detect more treasure locations and treasure types.
  • Update to the mail system.

In addition to this content, we're getting four events during 5.5:

  • Tournament of Glory in Bloom - Main event in Natlan with a story about a returning competition with offensive and defensive version of battles (that look an awful lot like 'capture the flag'), and a 2D boardgame-like mode. Rewards include the 4-Star character Ororon, the usual character and weapon materials, Crown of Insight, and Primogems.
  • Quirky Quaking Arena - Co-op event where you have to collect Adventure Coins in different arenas - think Battle Mode in Mario Kart. Rewards include the usual character and weapon materials, along with Primogems.
  • Rhythm Ball Meztli - Music festival event at the People of the Springs tribe in Natlan, with a bonus appearance from Xilonen. Gameplay consists of the familiar Peggle-like minigame seen in previous events. Rewards include the usual character and weapon materials, along with Primogems.
  • Unlimited Fighting Championship - Combat event with five stages of tough challenges. Rewards include the usual character and weapon materials, along with Primogems.
