You can currently save £250 on this 55-inch LG G4 OLED at AO
That's a big saving.
It's hard to believe that throughout the life cycle of LG's flagship G4, the only deal we've covered on it thus far is right at the end of its life cycle. Nonetheless, if you're wanting a big OLED TV to upgrade to, then you can net a big £250 saving on this 55-inch model with AO to bring it down from £1429 to £1179 with the retailer's membership scheme.
The way this deal works is with AO's Five-Star membership, which costs £40 a year. This scheme gives you access to everything from exclusive discounts to a wider 100 day returns window and unlimited free delivery, which is pleasant. If you were going to purchase anything else through AO in the future, it seems to pay for itself. Otherwise, you have to pay the membership fee to get the telly at this price, therefore giving you a £210 saving on the G4, which is still not to be sniffed at.
The G4 is perhaps more of a refinement over the bigger upgrades that the G3 brought with it in 2023 to push it away and above the now mid-range C-series of OLEDs. The headline feature here is that the G4 comes with an MLA panel which provides even higher peak brightness against its predecessors when combined with its new Peak Highlighter feature that can increase its peak brightness by up to 150 percent in a 3 percent window against more standard LG OLEDs, such as the B4, for instance. Combine with this its signature inky blacks, sublime contrast and its gorgeous detail with a 4K resolution, and you've got an all-conquering panel for games, movies and more.
In addition, this G4 features the same refinements to the mid-range C4 to keep it as one of the best gaming TVs we've tested, with four HDMI 2.1 ports with full 4K/144Hz output (up from 120Hz), as well as proper G-Sync certification and support for VRR to avoid screen tearing and juddering and ALLM for responsive inputs. You also benefit from the newer Alpha 11 AI processor for smoother operation, and webOS 24 that comes with some handy features such as a built-in Chromecase for convenient wireless casting.
HDR support is plentiful, with Dolby Vision, HLG and HDR10 present; HDR10+ is nowhere to be seen, though. The new processor also brings some further optimisations to image quality, such as LG's AI Picture Pro features, with AI Director Processing able to automatically adapt the displayed image to a director's intentions with colour tone, which is clever. There is also LG's AI Sound Pro that upmixes the TV's audio to an 11.1.2 channel virtual surround system for even more immersive audio - there is Dolby Atmos here in supported content, too. The only thing you don't get with this G4 is a stand, as it is designed to be wall-mounted.
If you want to grab a shiny new OLED telly with quite the discount, this AO reduction on the 55-inch LG G4 is well worth a look.
