How to cook meals in Monster Hunter Wilds
There are two main ways to cook meals in Monster Hunter Wilds. You can either Grill a Meal from your camp tent's BBQ Menu or use the portable BBQ Grill from your essential item menu when on the go.

Once you open the Grill a Meal menu, you have the option to create a Recommended Meal or to create a Custom Meal. To create the meals below, open the Custom Meal menu.
Meals comprise three components: a Ration, Additional Ingredients, and Finishing Touches. At the bare minimum, a meal requires a Ration (either Meat, Fish, or Veggies), but adding the other two parts allows you to add more bonuses and increase the meal's potency.
Ingredients for meals are found through exploration and by progressing through the main story quest, but you can also find ingredients at the Supply Drop and through trades with select NPCs.
To create your meal, add each component you require, keeping an eye on the Meal Effects window to the right to see what the overall effects of your meal (and its duration) will be. When you're finished, select Start Cooking, and you get to watch your character create your meal with the actual ingredients you selected.

Best meals in Monster Hunter Wilds
Below you'll find our recommendations for the best meals in Monster Hunter Wilds:
Best meal for Attack boost in Monster Hunter Wilds
- Ration - Meat
- Additional Ingredients - Airy Egg
- Finishing Touches - Wild Herb
- Health - +50
- Stamina - +150
- Attack - +2
- Elemental Resistance - +5
- Duration - 50:00
- Food Skills - Caprice Meal (Hi) / Immunizer Meal
If you want to give your Attack a boost, you can't go wrong with this meal. Meat is the best Ration for an attack meal, as it gives +2 off the bat, plus a standard boost to Health and Stamina. The most important part of this meal is the Airy Egg, which grants the Caprice Meal (Hi) skill that repeatedly activates a large temporary attack boost at random intervals. If you've not got an Airy Egg, you can use the Fluffy Egg instead (though it's less powerful). The final part of this meal is the Wild Herb, which grants the Immunizer Meal effect, lessening the effect of various ailments. The Finishing Touches available don't give any attack-focused options, so it's worth adding this for extra Elemental Resistance and to give yourself a bit of extra defence, too.

Best meal for Defense boost in Monster Hunter Wilds
- Ration - Fish
- Additional Ingredients - Sharp Kunafa Cheese
- Finishing Touches - Wild Herb
- Health - +50
- Stamina - +150
- Defense - +4
- Elemental Resistance - +5
- Duration - 50:00
- Food Skills - Defender Meal (Hi) / Immunizer Meal
Need a meal to boost your Defense? We've got just the ticket. The Fish boosts your Defense +4, while giving a standard Health and Stamina boost, too. Adding the Sharp Kunafa Cheese is the key part here, as it grants the Defender Meal (Hi) skill, often decreasing damage taken. You can use Kunafa Cheese instead, but it's less powerful. Finally, you can add the Wild Herb to grant the Immunizer Meal effect and lessen the effects of various ailments. This is a good, all-round defense meal.

Best Elemental Defense meal in Monster Hunter Wilds
- Ration - Veggies
- Additional Ingredients - Sharp Kunafa Cheese
- Finishing Touches - Wild Herb
- Health - +50
- Stamina - +150
- Defense - +2
- Elemental Resistance - +8
- Duration - 50:00
- Food Skills - Defender Meal (Hi) / Immunizer Meal
This meal is quite similar to the Defense meal, but includes the Veggie ration rather than the Fish. Replacing Fish with Veggies lessens the overall Defense boost, but increases the Element Resistances stat. The Sharp Kunafa Cheese still gives you a Defense boost, so you aren't too exposed, while the Wild Herb gives an extra few Element Resistances points and helps ward off pesky ailments. If you want a meal more specific to climate effects, though, check out the meal below.

Best meal for hot and cold climates in Monster Hunter Wilds
- Ration - Veggies
- Additional Ingredients - Sharp Kunafa Cheese
- Finishing Touches - Monster Chili
- Health - +50
- Stamina - +150
- Defense - +2
- Elemental Resistance - +8
- Duration - 50:00
- Food Skills - Defender Meal (Hi) / Sizzling Meal
This meal is pretty much the same as the one above, except we replace the Wild Herb with the Monster Chili. Monster Chili grants the Sizzling Meal skill, negating the effects of hot or cold climates and increasing defense in such areas. So, if you know you're about to battle a monster in the Ice Cliffs or near the lava pits of the Oilwell Basin, it's worth making this meal.

Best meal for Heal boost in Monster Hunter Wilds
- Ration - Fish
- Additional Ingredients - Speciality Sild Garlic
- Finishing Touches - Eastern Honey
- Health - +50
- Stamina - +150
- Defense - +4
- Elemental Resistance - +5
- Duration - 50:00
- Food Skills - Moxie Meal (Hi) / Medic Meal
If you know you're going against a tough monster and want to give yourself a healing boost, this is the meal to make. Fish is a good basis, as it gives a Defense boost of +4, but it's the Speciality Sild Garlic and Eastern Honey doing the carrying. Speciality Sild Garlic grants the Moxie Meal (Hi) effect, preventing fainting one time and healing you when damage taken exceeds your remaining health. If you can also use the normal Sild Garlic for a less powerful version of this effect. The Eastern Honey then increases the amount of health recovered while healing, thanks to its Medic Meal effect. If you're prone to dying. Whip this bad boy up.

Best meal for Stamina in Monster Hunter Wilds
- Ration - Veggies
- Additional Ingredients - Delishrom
- Finishing Touches - Monster Chili (Any will do)
- Health - +50
- Stamina - +150
- Defense - +2
- Elemental Resistance - +8
- Duration - 50:00
- Food Skills - Black Belt Meal (Hi) / Sizzling Meal
If you want to reduce Stamina depletion, this is the best meal you can make. We've chosen Veggies here for the Ration, but any will do, and the same goes for the Finishing Touches. The most important part of this meal is the Delishroom, which grants the Black Belt Meal (Hi) skill, greatly reducing Stamina depletion when performing Stamina-draining moves, such as evading. If you haven't got a Delishroom, a Droolshroom works too, but is less effective. If you want to focus more on evading than Stamina, use a Turbid Shrimp instead of a Delishroom, as it extends the invulnerability period when evading.

- Finishing Touches - Wild Herb
- Health - +50
- Stamina - +150
- Attack - +2
- Elemental Resistance - +5
- Duration - 50:00
- Food Skills - Defender Meal (Hi) / Immunizer Meal
This meal gives a mix of everything. You get an Attack boost from the Meat, Defense from the Cheese, and a protection against ailments with the Wild Herb, plus using all three ingredients gives an Element Resistances boost, too.

Best Gatherer meal in Monster Hunter Wilds
- Ration - Fish (Any will do)
- Additional Ingredients - Delishrom (Any will do)
- Finishing Touches - Truffle Du Conga
- Health - +50
- Stamina - +150
- Defense - +4
- Elemental Resistance - +5
- Duration - 50:00
- Food Skills - Black Belt Meal (Hi) / Gatherer Meal
On the hunt for resources? Make sure to make this meal first. Most of this meal you can alter to your liking, but the most important part is the Truffle Du Conga, which grants the Gatherer Meal skill. This skill sometimes increases the number of resources per gather of bones, ore, and other gatherable items. It may only be sometimes, but it's worth using if you need resources quickly.

Last, but certainly not least, we have a meal for those who love getting stuck into fights, but want a safety net in case it all goes a bit awry. This meal combines the Meat's Attack boost with the healing benefits of the Sild Garlic and Eastern Honey, allowing you to increase the amount of health recovered when healing and to prevent fainting once respectively. It's essentially the heal meal, but with an Attack boost.

Best of luck in Monster Hunter Wilds!
